An Unfortunate Prophecy
“An Unfortunate Prophecy” - finished live at The Frostbound Ball, hosted by The Lazy Daisy Bookshop
It was prophesied at the birth of a daughter, that her beauty would one day destroy kingdoms. In an effort to protect his people and his land, the king sent his daughter to be raised in a wooded land far away. But she stumbled upon the army of another kingdom, with a prince who she could not help but desire, and he could not help but desire her in return. In an effort to preserve his kingdom, the king banned his daughter from ever seeing the prince, so in rebellion the lovers ran away. Now knowing his daughter will never part with the prince, the king bribed his daughter with a safe return home. So long as she was back in the kingdom, surely no harm could be done. However, upon their return to the kingdom, a trap had been laid. The king instructed his army to destroy the prince. But the prince had been aware of this potential trap, and brought forth his own army. In a gruesome battle, the two armies fought, and the prince took a fatal blow. Distraught with anger and soaked in red, the kings daughter picked up her lovers sword as he lay by a stream after his final breath, and continued to fight in his steed, leading to her own fateful end. A tragic prophecy come true, a “Rapunzel” meets “Romeo & Juliet”, the tragic end to what could’ve been a beautiful love story and a thriving kingdom.
